AND a cover reveal!!!
Let me start by saying, writing a book is HARD work. I mean, blood, sweat, and tears. The final stages, including the editing and formatting process, are brutal especially when you are self-publishing. But I did it and am extremely grateful for the experience.
BUT…
I’ve been back in college, studying English/Creative Writing, for around two years. To say I have learned a lot is quite the understatement! One thing I’m having to grasp is the whole idea of marketing.
Now, if you are an artist or entrepreneur of any kind you know how cringy it can feel to market yourself. I hate it.
HATE with a capital H.
Talking about myself and my writing just feels gross. But one thing I do like is the idea of revisiting old work while working on new.
In 2019 I published my first novel, Paper Dolls: Trust Your Instincts. I was (and am) extremely proud of this story. It addresses a very real and present issue in today’s culture, which is child sex trafficking. I thought it would make sense to resurrect that story and update the resources in the back to share with you while I work on my new novel.
One thing leads to another.

Next thing I knew, I was reading my own book. I saw so many things I would change! There were too many “ands” and “thats,” a common mistake of new writers. There were areas that felt cheesy and cliché, which I now know to avoid as much as possible. Scenes needed some clarification to help the reader “see” the characters and their emotions.
I didn’t change the actual story at all, but I cleaned it up. Big time.
So, three rounds of edits later, I am SO CLOSE to rereleasing Paper Dolls! I can’t wait to share it with you! Be sure to subscribe below to get notified when it is available.
Thanks to all who read the original and praised the story! I think you will like the revised and updated version even better 🙂
More soon!
